The Elliot Health System considers staff to be our most important asset and we are happy and pleased to recognize and acknowledge our staff.

There are many ways this is done, from department level initiatives, to companywide initiatives, including the following:

Caught You Caring

Elliot recognizes employees who go beyond their job duties to make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and co-workers through our Caught You Caring program. Employees, patients and their families, and members of the community are invited to nominate any Elliot Health System employee or staff.

Caught You Caring submissions will be available on Elliot’s Intranet site, IKE, and certain other submissions may be printed in the Elliot Health System monthly employee newsletter, Inside Report or announced in other company events.

Caught You Caring Live

Caught You Caring Live is an informal recognition program in which managers can ask an employee to a quarterly luncheon hosted by Elliot Human Resources and Senior Leaders. During the lunch, the manager will have an opportunity to say a few words briefly describing the staff member being acknowledged and the extraordinary act, above and beyond customer service and/or exemplary team performance that is being recognized.

This program is designed to increase recognition for staff, in a casual setting, resulting in a culture of shared appreciation for the outstanding efforts taking place throughout the health system each and every day. Senior Leaders are very excited to hear from managers, to meet staff and participate in recognizing staff for their spirit, energy and skill in their area of expertise. The staff members that are recognized will have their names listed on a scroll that will run on all TV screens, as well as be listed on IKE and in our monthly Inside Report.

Through The Years

Our Through the Years program recognizes staff for their many years of service with Elliot, at each 5 year interval of service completed. We invite all employees achieving a milestone anniversary to a recognition dinner held each October and, in addition, provide a Gift of Time award.

The Gift of Time cash award is granted at intervals of five years to full-time, part-time and per diem employees with a minimum of 300 hours worked in the prior calendar year. Full-time and part-time employees are awarded 1 day of pay for each 5 years of service completed at their base rate as of August 31st. Per Diem employees receive one day of pay at 75% of their base rate of pay as of August 31st. All calculations to determine eligible number of “days of pay” are calculated based on actual hours worked the prior calendar year.  Employees must be in an active status as of September 30th in order to receive the Gift of Time cash award.

Staff with over 20 years of service, but less than 300 hours worked receive a gift of $100.00. Staff with less than 20 years of service and less than 300 hours worked, Vice Presidents and above as well as Physicians are not eligible for a cash gift, but are recognized at our Through the Years dinner.

Celebrating Birthdays

The Elliot Health System is eager to help celebrate the birthdays of each of our employees. Every month, a casual luncheon is hosted by Human Resources and Senior Leadership in the conference center of the hospital to recognize those who had a birthday during that month. Employees will receive a mailed invitation to the event; the invitation is worth $3.50 in the Café.

It’s a fun opportunity to enjoy lunch, meet other members of the health system, and get to know some of our Senior Leaders. Plus, there is always cake!
